The Simulation Technology Specialist is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary:

The Simulation Technology Specialist, under the direct supervision of the Simulation Center Manager, is responsible for the development, planning, preparation, and execution of simulation-based healthcare training and education events for the system. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, storing, maintaining, and repairing simulators, task trainers, and other simulation equipment. The Simulation Technology Specialist provides general technical support and troubleshooting for simulation technologies as well as contribute to and maintain simulation technology-related documentation to ensure optimal functioning of educational technologies within the simulation center. This position will also assist with maintaining simulation-related supply inventory for the system.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Simulation Support a.Develops and conducts simulation initiatives with measurable outcomes. b.Prepares the simulation environment to accurately represent a clinical setting using real and simulated clinical supplies and equipment. c.Creates and applies moulage/special effects appropriate to the scenario to increase realism. d.Maintains simulation technology-related documentation e.Sets up and operate simulation software during the simulation as well as provide adequate clean-up of the simulation room. f.Stages, installs, operates, and stores simulation equipment. g.Ensure preparation and storage areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and comply with health and safety regulations. - Inventory Management a.Identifies, acquires, and manages resources and suppliers that are essential to the operations of the simulation center. b.Orders and replenishes inventory ensuring the simulation center is stocked with adequate levels of consumables and simulation equipment. c.Identifies and allocates simulation supplies to appropriate disciplines and departments to ensure availability and proper usage d.Controls inventory levels for cost effectiveness - Equipment Maintenance a.Provides general support and troubleshooting for all simulation equipment. Operates, stores, maintains, and repairs simulators, task trainers and other simulation equipment. b.Maintains routine maintenance records, updates simulator databases, and analyzes routine data/information as required. c.Installs updates and performs scheduled maintenance to all simulation assets and simulation software platforms. d.Conducts inspections of simulation equipment to monitor condition and report failures. e.Maintain a relationship with vendors to ensure current and future simulation technology needs are met.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma Required or Associate's Degree or EMT, LPN or Surg Tech Preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

Less than 1 year Experience in a fluid and demanding work environment. Experience and understanding of proper lab procedures for safety of self and others. Minimum 1 year work experience in the areas of audiovisual technology, information technology, adult education, clinical healthcare or first responder

Required Minimum Skills:

Good teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple projects Knowledge of medical terminology & clinical medical practices. Ability to learn new technologies General knowledge of adult education theory. Demonstrate safe operation of common medical equipment and associated resources Understand and apply universal precautions when working with biological materials. Working knowledge of a range of common audiovisual hardware and simulation-based software (CAE Healthcare, Gaumard, and Laerdal).
