Job Description


The Assistant Director serves as the leader of the International Credentials Evaluation area, managing operations and between 7 and 12 employees who exercise independence in their decision making. Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions Operations, International Credentials, the Assistant Director supervises 7-10 seasonal employees who are 100% FTE for 7 months, 3-6 student employees, as well as functional supervision over 3 full time staff members. The Assistant Director is responsible for hiring, training, on boarding, providing coaching and feedback, off boarding and then beginning that cycle again in a process that continues year round for seasonal employees who are an integral part of the Operations staff. The Assistant Director's comprehensive performance management process includes on-going training, setting expectations through performance planning, provides on-going coaching/mentoring for staff; motivates and encourages staff to help set priorities and assist in their own career development. Provides leadership in the hiring process of staff. Leads training and on boarding of seasonal and student staff.



Works closely with the Associate Director of Admissions Operations in the development of policies and procedures to deliver processing efficiencies with the overall objective of meeting Strategic Enrollment Management short and long-term goals. Proposes processing solutions to undergraduate application-related issues. Serves as a program liaison with the OSU Academy Program, Office of Extended Education and eLearning and international exchanges programs; conducts training; reviews and edits evaluation materials; leads meetings; an expert for escalated calls and email; develops training modules, delivers training; evaluates supporting documents to determine admissibility based on university policies; updates relevant information in SIS; serves as a liaison with Student Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO) and Compliance, ensures policies and procedures are followed and student athlete identification is followed; develops reports and communicates with SASSO and Compliance; develops and manages process initiatives to deliver merit scholarship awards; conducts queries for quality assurance; posts communications in SIS.



Functions primarily as an international undergraduate application credentials leader, but also develops and maintains expertise in domestic educational systems, secondary and post-secondary educational structures, programs, policies, procedures, majors/academic unit requirements, and admission requirements. Interprets and evaluates domestic and international high school and/or post-secondary education credentials based on thorough understanding of university policies and admission requirements for an application pool of 70,000+ applicants. Consults with high school/college officials/post-secondary schools to resolve discrepancies, researches and maintains a thorough understanding of international education credentials. Maintains expertise in using the PeopleSoft and OnBase systems to enter and update secondary and post-secondary school credentials. Responds to inquiries via Salesforce to explain area policies.

10% Reviews applications and makes admissions recommendations; participates in trainings related to application review; meets deadlines for review completion, Serves on departmental and campus committees, as appropriate. Completes special projects and additional duties as assigned




Education/Experience


Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience; 5 years of relevant experience required; understanding of training principles and familiarity with higher education; previous supervisory experience, demonstrated proficiency in presenting and training; strong computer software proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access); effective oral and communication skills; ability to lead operational initiatives, ability to interpret, analyze and summarize training needs within a large organization. This position requires successful completion of a background check.

Additional Information:


  • Target hiring salary is min $58,100 - mid $77,450. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
