Position Title

Tenure-Track Faculty Hire within the Clinical Psychology Department

Position Profile

The School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy (SoPMFT) at Fuller Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, to begin as early as July 1, 2024. Appropriate candidates may include specialization in developmental or cultural psychology; other areas of specialization will also be considered.

This faculty appointment will be in the Department of Clinical Psychology, which is located in Pasadena, CA. Fuller’s Clinical Psychology department offers two degrees: a PhD in clinical psychology (consistent with the scientist-practitioner training model) and a PsyD in clinical psychology (consistent with the practitioner-scholar training model). Both programs are designed to prepare graduates for careers and leadership positions in areas such as academia, private practice, hospitals, and community health clinics. The program offers two optional tracks from which students can choose: the Neuropsychology Track and Culture and Community Track.

The primary responsibilities of this position will be to serve as a regular faculty member in the Clinical Psychology Department and in the SoPMFT, teach courses, conduct research, advise the research activities of several students, and publish scholarly books and peer-reviewed journal articles.

The successful candidate will be a full-time faculty member in the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy. Qualifications

  1. A doctoral degree in psychology is required.
  2. Proven record of effective teaching. The successful candidate will offer core and elective courses in the PhD and PsyD in Clinical Psychology program(s) and mentor doctoral student research.
  3. Proven record of research and publication, with ongoing research plans.
  4. Commitment to thinking theologically/missiologically/psychologically about, teaching, and practicing in ways that speak to established and emerging cultures in the 21st century
  5. The personal, academic, and/or professional development to effectively serve the culturally, ethnically, racially, and theologically diverse student body of the seminary.
  1. Commitment to theological education in the service of the local and global church, to shaping leaders for the church’s mission and ministry, to the spiritual formation of students, and to supporting women and men in pastoral and other leadership positions.
  2. Faith and lifestyle congruent with the mission of Fuller Theological Seminary as expressed in its statement of faith, community standards and institutional commitments.

Rank and Other Considerations

  1. Tenure-track, initial three-year appointment.
  2. Rank dependent on qualifications and experience.
  3. Contract includes the equivalent of 5 courses and doctoral mentorship,
  4. Eligible to apply for Sabbatical.
  5. Date position available: 1 July 2024.

Pay Scale

Salary range the seminary expects to pay: $69,000 - $85,000 annually USD
