Summary:
Our internship positions allow high school/college/trade school students to learn our industry, right where the action takes place. This will be a hands-on experience for students, to learn the industry from the ground up. You'll work alongside some of the best in the aggregate business. This a great opportunity for students with minimal or no mining industry experience to gain first-hand knowledge of an underground stone operation.
Position primarily located in Dallas, TX and support a combination of operations in the North Texas/Oklahoma areas.
What to Expect:
Interns will enter an approximately 10-week rotational internship program, allowing for ownership of a project, allowing the individual to learn the Aggregates/Ready Mix business and develop professional skills including leadership, time management, and relationship building. The goal of the Internship program is to provide individuals with hands-on experience inGeology/Miningindustry and allowing them to explore safety, production, engineering, geology, quality control, sales, administration and so much more.
Essential Functions:
Adheres to and enforces ethical, safety and environmental measures.
Becomes familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry/Ready Mix Plant, understanding the complete production process.
Becomes familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta.
Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company's policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct
Becomes familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry understanding the complete production process • Log cores to modern standards and digitize results • Conduct field mapping and field investigations to support development projects • Organize and manage exploration data (logs, photos, quality data, databases, etc.) • Incorporate field data into deposit models to support operations • Participate in Land Management meetings to understand Real Estate and Project Management basics • Work with Mine Engineering to utilize geologic models in the mining process • Work with Quality Control to understand geologic impacts on final product qualities
Qualifications and skills:
Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or trade certification in:
Geology
Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences.
Mining Engineering
Candidate must also have:
a valid driver's license.
Prior full-time experience is preferred, not required
the ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Working Conditions
Majority of time will be outside and may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
