Purpose of Job:
The primary purpose of this position is develop and execute elements of the Interstate Standard of Quality as assigned through engagement with various stakeholders including customer, suppliers, and internal departments.
Job Components:
Responsibilities related to Supplier Quality Management for Assigned Suppliers (65%):
Foster strong relationships and knowledge sharing with Interstate Batteries' supplier - partners
Lead continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to improve product quality and effectiveness of root cause corrective actions
Develop and maintain a process to improve supplier performance year over year, including but not limited to, workshops, contract reviews, audits and other regular engagements to improve product quality
Maintain regular Quality touch points with suppliers aimed to improve efficiency in problem solving as well as business relationships
Drive resolution to quality problems using the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) processes
Manage supplier changes using the Product and Process Change Request processes for assigned suppliers.
Generate, monitor and communicate supplier performance metrics to internal stakeholders on a monthly basis
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and cross functional teams for product development and/or improvements, to meet customer needs
Manage PPAP requests and lead efforts to deliver appropriate documentation to meet customer needs
Conduct supplier and product audits as required
Responsibilities related to Supplier Qualification (25%):
Develop and maintain a standard for the Supplier Qualification Process
Lead supplier Quality System (QS) audits to support evaluation, selection, approval, and monitoring of suppliers/manufacturing partners with a cross functional team
Generate, publish, and communicate audit reports to internal stakeholders and suppliers
Develop and maintain supplier audit schedules, contract language, workshops and other regular engagement to improve product quality
Serve as subject matter expert for supplier qualification and surveillance, share expertise within the business
Responsibilities related to Supplier Quality Engineering/Technical Services (SQE/TS) Documentation and Document Control (10%):
Identify processes and/or tasks that require documentation
Provide mentoring and assist in writing documentation as required
Support to maintain SQE/TS document control structure
Write, review, approve, and assign document numbers to procedures/work instructions
Lead annual document reviews
Qualifications:
College degree in a technical field
ASQ certification desired
Prior manufacturing related Quality experience required
Ability to prioritize competing requirements
Must have excellent analytical skills
Advanced Excel and Access skills preferred
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
Scope Data:
Interacts with various levels within SCM, Marketing, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers
Work Environment:
Up to 25% domestic & international travel
Operates a computer for data entry and information retrieval
Frequently moves equipment and packages up to 50 lbs
Able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
Able to move or traverse in an office environment to access supplies and equipment
Regular attendance is required
