Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), Behavioral Healthcare and Teacher Education.


In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and the Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. In addition to Green Hill School in Chehalis, Washington. In total, the college serves more than 7,000 students annually. Job Description Centralia College is creating a pool of qualified applicants to teach developmental and college-transfer English courses on-campus and online to freshmen and sophomores on a part-time basis. The college's need for part-time instructors varies from quarter to quarter.In-person teaching opportunities may arise at the college's main campus in Centralia; its satellite campus in Morton, WA; the Chehalis Tribal Center in Oakville, WA; or within correctional and juvenile detention facilities in the area. Online courses are typically taught asynchronously using the Canvas learning management system.Applicants must reside in Washington State.Duties and Responsibilities

English instructors are responsible for teaching a variety of courses at all levels-from developmental English to 200-level transfer courses in composition, writing, and literature.

Qualifications
    Master's or higher degree in English or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
    Teaching experience in English or writing, community college-level preferred.Academic degree with a composition or rhetoric emphasis.Experience teaching developmental English courses.Skill in increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students.Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles.Demonstrated experience effectively and respectfully working with students, staff, and colleagues of various cultural, ethnic, racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, college learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technologies.

COMPENSATION:


Current lecture/lab rates ($886.41 - $1,358.22 per credit)
