Job Details:

The Academic Support Specialist provides administrative support to the Department of Clinical Psychology in the College of Health Professions. Objectives include independently performing administrative tasks such as preparation and analysis of materials related to operations of Department, generating invoices and preparing budget-related documents, maintaining accurate databases, and serving as liaison to internal and external constituents.


Responsibilities:

The overall purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Department of Clinical Psychology in the College of Health Professions. Objectives include independently performing administrative tasks such as preparation and analysis of materials related to operations of Department, generating invoices and preparing budget-related documents, maintaining accurate databases, and serving as liaison to internal and external constituents. Additional critical support is provided for accreditation-related activities for the PsyD program. To be successful, the individual must work extremely well in a team environment, yet possess the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, the position requires the ability to handle multiple higher-level tasks simultaneously, be able to maintain productivity despite multiple interruptions, demonstrate excellent time management skills, and work with changing priorities throughout the academic year. Exceptional organizational skills are required with excellent attention to detail. This person must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and correctly in both verbal and written form, and possess a professional appearance and demeanor.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma / GED with two years of college coursework and one year of administrative support experience, to include working with databases and customer service. In lieu of education, equivalent directly related experience will be considered. Bachelor's degree and prior experience in an academic environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in use of Word, Access, and Excel to import, export, and analyze data;

  • Capable of providing a welcoming environment and communicating in a manner to provide services to faculty, staff, and students;

  • Knowledgeable regarding development of assessment tables to capture accreditation data;

  • Knowledgeable regarding programs that are useful for collection of data for accreditation;

  • Knowledgeable regarding development of assessment tools that will mine data;

  • Capable of providing a welcoming environment and being an effective communicator who can provide services to faculty, staff, and students;

  • Capable of organizing and prioritizing workload to address multiple emerging needs and to meet deadlines under pressure;

  • Able to maintain confidentiality regarding student academic and health-related information.
