Overview

This position is responsible for managing the execution of the supply chain that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward, and reverse flow and storage of finished goods, materials, transportation, services, and related information related between the point of origin and point of consumption in order to meet customer’s requirements and the business objectives. Ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at the agreed cost.



Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all transportation operations with carriers and for 3PL warehousing operations.
  • Responsible of ensuring proper procedures are implemented which allows the company’s products to be handled optimally, meet regulatory requirements, and that service and cost level targets are attained.
  • Develop high performing team to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
  • Direct the evaluation and selection of carriers, methods of transportation and routing requirements based on cost and on-time service goals.
  • Direct the evaluation and selection of 3rd party warehouses based on cost and service goals.
  • Direct all negotiations and bidding processes with outside carrier base on all Ajinomoto freight lanes including all inbound and outbound freight. Oversee that routing guides are maintained for all locations and that they are in compliance.
  • Ensure freight and logistics costs are properly reflected in all product and customer pricing.
  • Develop and implement improvements in processes and policies to assure that advancements in logistics services support competitive costs and continuous improvement to provide excellent service.
  • Assure that all Ajinomoto Windsor locations are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations on company logistics assets and personnel.
  • Assure that all respective claims are completed in on a timely basis and that settlements are effectively and fairly negotiated.
  • Create performance (KPI) reports that help assist the plants deliver logistical cost savings, monitor transportation and warehousing performance and direct corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure continuous improvements, analytics and studies are performed to drive optimal service and cost efficient network
  • Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.


Qualifications

    • BS/BA Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline.
    • Minimum 10 years in Logistics or Supply Chain experience & knowledge preferably in temperature controlled channel with demonstrated increase in duties and responsibilities (such as Customer Service, Distribution, Logistics, Material Planning, Production Planning, Warehouse and Transportation)
    • Strong analytical background in finance with the ability to organize and interpret large amounts of information
    • Ability to negotiate to ensure the Company is favored with the most competitive refrigerated rates possible.
    • Detail oriented and self-starter with strong organizational and communication skill
    • Understanding of TMS and ERP systems and processes a must.
    • Strong understanding FDA and USDA GMP requirements
    • Experience with import/export a plus.
    • Demonstrated escalating responsibility levels within a Supply Chain organization.
    • Optional: APICS or Six Sigma Certification
    • Up to 25% travel required
    • Range $190,000 to $200,000
