Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

US-OR-Portland

Job ID: 2024-29558
Type: Regular Full-Time
# of Openings: 1
Category: Faculty/Provider
Portland, OR (Downtown)

Overview

The Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has an outstanding opportunity for a BE/BC Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist interested in serving at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health, a 22-bed CAP Psychiatric Unit in a larger hospital which includes 80 Adult beds and a Psychiatric Emergency Service in Portland, Oregon. Unity Center is a collaborative effort to address the mental health needs of the community. OHSU’s Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with other major Oregon health systems, uses a non-coercive, highly community-oriented treatment program, which will prevent hospitalization when possible, and return patients to community services as soon as feasible. This is a unique opportunity for a creative, energetic child and adolescent psychiatrist to treat, teach, and advance their academic interests.

The incumbent will work as a full-time Pediatric Inpatient Physician at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health. As part of your duties and base pay at Unity Center, you will be expected to take regular nightly pager call duties at Unity Center, in addition to covering weekend calls, as assigned, with other faculty on weekends and holidays, up to 10 weekends in a year. You may work more weekends if you are interested. For weekend or holiday calls, you will be paid at a per diem rate.

The incumbent will be allowed approximately 0.1 FTE time to pursue academic interests of their choosing, including clinical program development, curriculum development, or scholarship, typically one full day every two weeks.

The hospital also serves as a major training site for the department’s child psychiatric fellowship training program, in addition to OHSU medical students and other health professional trainees. The incumbent will be expected to teach child psychiatric fellows, psychiatric residents, NP students, and medical students in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the year in support of this mission.

Responsibilities

Academic rank begins at the level of Assistant Professor and may be higher, depending on credentials. All applicants must be board certified or board eligible (with certification planned/in process) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; experience, fellowship training, and/or board certification in forensics, addictions, and/or public psychiatry a plus.
