Job Summary


The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the position of part-time adjunct instructor for the Surgical Technology Program. The position will work less than 30 hours per week.



Job Duties - * Candidate is responsible for teaching all program phases, including theory and practical curriculum instruction. * Coordinate skills laboratory related to clinical skills, procedures, assignments, and evaluation of surgical technology students. * Coordinate clinical experiences and maintain public relations with the respective cooperative agencies; * Must monitor and evaluate student progress and accurately maintain program and student records. * Observe students in the clinical setting. * Keep abreast of current trends in the operating room and the regulations of the Surgical Technology specialty. * Continue personal training and professional development to stay abreast of changes in the industry. * Other duties as assigned. - (Essential) (Essential)



Minimum Qualifications


* Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Maintaining certification is required.
* Must have at least three years of operating room experience or teaching experience in the field of Surgical Technology or a combination equal to two years within the last five years.
* Must be a graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program in Surgical Technology with a diploma or associate degree.
* Must have an American Heart Association BLS certification.
* Must be knowledgeable in course content, effective in directing/evaluating student learning, and student lab and clinical performance.



Preferred Qualifications


* Prior teaching experience.
* An associate degree or hours working toward an associate degree is preferred.

* Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor.
* Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills.
* Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
