Description


Position Title: Summer Transition Program (STP) Leader


Reports To: Summer Transition Program (STP) Coordinator
Pay and Assignment Dates: Stipend of $450 (August 9-Aug. 15, 2024).
Job Purpose: The Summer Transition Program (STP) leader will participate in mandatory training and team-building prior to first-year students' arrival. The STP leader will serve as a peer counselor for first-year students. First-year students may be First-Generation, Pell-Eligible, and BIPOC students. The STP leader will help establish an environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Reporting to the STP Coordinator, the STP leader will be responsible for a small group of first-year students who you will mentor, offer guidance to, and lead in small group discussions over five (5) days of the Summer Transition Program.


Essential Functions and Job Duties:




  • Attend training and team-building sessions that include academic support, social acclimation, and personal support.




  • Provide leadership and guidance to first-year students through individual meetings and small group meetings throughout the Summer Transition Program period.




  • Assist and participate with program social activities held at both indoor and outdoor venues.



Qualifications Education:
    Required: High School degree or equivalent

Ability To:

Speak, read, and write appropriate English.Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls.Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.Convey information in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:
    The functions of this position may involve some amount of time sitting and walking. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, or carrying may be required.Contact with employees, students, and the general public. Normal office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but additional hours beyond the normal workday, and nights and weekends will be required. Travel might be required for scheduled off-campus programming and events.
