Advertised Job Summary:

The Large Proposal Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the development of comprehensive and compelling proposals to secure funding for large-scale projects, initiatives, or programs. Working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts, the Specialist ensures that proposals are strategically crafted, technically sound, and compliant with the requirements of funding agencies or sponsors. By leveraging their expertise in proposal writing, project management, and research, they contribute to the university's success in securing vital resources to advance its mission and objectives.


Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree and 3 years proposal development, program management, or related experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer prior experience in large-scale project/grant proposal development. CRA is a plus.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Proven experience in proposal development.Strong project management skills, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple stakeholders.Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.Familiarity with funding landscapes, identification of large/center funding opportunities and ability to align research teams to fit these opportunities.Excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work across diverse cultures and personalities.

Write, edit, and review proposal content to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with funder guidelines and objectives. Develop detailed project budgets, justification narratives, and other supporting documentation required for all proposals. Manage proposal timelines, deadlines, and workflows to ensure timely submission and compliance with all requirements. Serve as the liaison with funding agencies or sponsors, seeking clarification on guidelines and addressing inquiries during the proposal process. Ensure proposal submission via all electronic systems.

Facilitate and encourage collaborative initiatives of individual and groups of faculty members to develop their ideas and reach their funding goals. Connect faculty members with the goal of collaboration on center-level, university-wide grants. Establish and maintain a repository of templates and resources by writing, and editing, any ancillary proposal submission files. Assist the staff in the OVPR with pre-award submissions and any other proposal submissions identified as critical in the priorities/strategic vision set forth by the OVPR.
