A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Biochemistry department. The position reports to the Chair of the Biochemistry Department. This person will be the secretary for the entire department; therefore, other faculty members of the department will have task-specific supervision of the secretary. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing routine secretarial tasks (typing, filing and retrieving records, answering the telephone, acting as a receptionist, etc.) and other various departmental tasks as may be required from time to time.
Major Job Duties
Typing documents (letters, class handouts, etc.)
Retrieving, sorting, and delivering mail
Answering the phone
Taking and delivering phone messages
Filing and retrieving records
Interacting with students (during the Biochemistry departments teaching periods)
Scheduling appointments
Maintaining the Departmental website (during the Biochemistry departments teaching periods)
Placing and receiving orders of supplies
Maintaining the departmental office supply inventory
Maintaining financial records of the department and of the faculty's research funds
Help faculty in preparation of educational materials (obtaining, scanning or photo-copying images, etc.)
Ability to pleasantly interact with faculty, staff, and students
A “can-do” attitude
An aptitude for learning new tasks
Requirements
This job may be occasionally stressful due to strict deadlines, which sometimes leave little time for work to be done. The job will require a person who is capable of handling this stress and is willing to work hard to accomplish the task in a timely fashion.
