Advertised Job Summary:

Clinical Instructor in Communication Sciences and DisordersThe Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a 12-month Clinical Instructor beginning October 16, 2023. All applicants must have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Further, applicants must have the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP), a current license or eligibility for licensure from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology, a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, and a record of clinical supervision experience. Responsibilities include providing clinical education and training of graduate students in the Montgomery Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, academic teaching, and community and/or professional service. The competitive applicant will provide direct speech-language pathology clinical services, guide students in learning to render high-quality, evidence-based services, and engage in interprofessional collaboration. Given the broad range of diagnostic areas served by the Clinic, preferred areas of experience include child language, literacy, speech sound disorders, voice, augmentative/alternative communication, and neurogenic disorders across the lifespan. Other areas will be considered for highly qualified applicants.The Montgomery Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic has a dynamic and collaborative team of clinical educators who evaluate and treat individuals of all ages with a variety of disorders to include the areas of language and literacy, speech sound disorders, hearing loss, aphasia, stuttering, voice, and myofunctional disorders. The Department currently has 28 full-time faculty and offers two CAA-accredited speech-language pathology master's degree pathways for the Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Speech-Language Pathology [residential and distance education modality] and a Ph.D. program. Our clinical faculty has strong ties within the department as well as the Arnold School of Public Health.
