The Research Specialist in the Cremins Lab will Independently design and perform complex experiments in the research area of minipreps and maxipreps to prepare vectors for genome engineering.




Job Description




This Research Specialist will Independently design and perform complex experiments in the research area of minipreps and maxipreps to prepare vectors for genome engineering. Clone sgRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 constructs into standard vector backbones. Conduct and optimize transfection assays and also prepare and characterize lentiviral particles for genome engineering. Participate in the long-term culture of whole brain organoids. Perform clonal selection and screening after transfection. Independently take on new/additional technical tasks that may arise during the research discovery process relating to assigned research project(s). Record, interpret and analyze results and develop new techniques. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, accurate laboratory records are kept, and adequate supplies are ordered. Assist the PI in administrative and scientific leadership needs such as (1) working with vendors to negotiate prices on lab reagents from sales representatives, (2) training new students on equipment, (3) leading scientific collaborations from a wet lab side, including Hi-C and routine analysis. Supervise and maintain an orderly, clean and safe laboratory. Serve as floor-leader for technical guidance across all lab projects. Opportunities for authorship on papers.


Position is contingent on continued funding.


Qualifications:
A Master's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or high degree of interest in genome editing technologies and mammalian tissue culture preferred. Prior lab experience with basic tissue culture and genome engineering techniques and experience working in a fast paced laboratory setting preferred.
