Under limited supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will conduct research on Building Smarter Cities; Innovative Manufacturing for Civil Lift Vehicles; Digital Twin Technologies to Design and Maintenance of Transmission Lines; and Field Trials for Cost Effective Strengthening. Duties: (1) Supervise graduate and undergraduate students. (2) to complete ongoing research projects, design of experimental test setups, laboratory and field instrumentation, modeling, programming, and data acquisition and processing. (4) Contribute to publications, technical reports. (4) Work as sole- or co-PI on grants and projects, and to be continuously seeking new opportunities.
The position requires a PhD degree in civil, structural, mechanical, aerospace engineering, computer science, information technology or closely related field, plus a minimum of two (2) years of postdoctoral research experience in civil, structural, mechanical, aerospace engineering, computer science, information technology or closely related field by the start date of employment.
Expertise in Structural Engineering, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Numerical simulation, and Artificial intelligence. Expertise in experimentatal techniques, computer-aided engineering (i.e., ABAQUS, ANSYS, COMSOL), and programing (i.e., Python, MATLAB). Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically byconsistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, andregulations.
Contribute to field and laboratory research on structural health monitoring and advanced diagnostics and prognostics of complex systems. Perform data collection and analysis of unruly datasets, derive meaningful insights from laboratory experiments and field studies through acoustic emission data acquisition, Python, Abaqus, and related methods.
