Job Description Summary


The Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law (CERL), affiliated with the Annenberg Public Policy Center at Penn, is a non-partisan interdisciplinary institute dedicated to preserving and promoting ethics and the rule of law in national security, warfare, and democratic governance. CERL draws from the study of law, philosophy, and ethics to answer the difficult questions that arise in domestic and transnational crises and conflicts.


This role is responsible for the development of strategy and the tactical creation and implementation of content for CERL's website, social media platforms, and mailing list subscribers, integrated with the wider objectives of CERL's communications objectives.




Job Description





Job Responsibilities



  • Work closely with key faculty and staff to support and communicate initiatives and program efforts, including public events, blog postings, reports, and media engagement.

  • Assist in developing marketing goals and strategic communications initiatives to raise visibility of CERL.

  • Oversee the creation of materials, including but not limited to promo copy for events and papers/reports, ancillary content such as photos, links, Twitter handles, etc., CERL's annual report, and other informational pieces as needed.

  • Edit blog posts for CERL's The Rule of Law Post and other write-ups, conference reports, and substantive-based materials.

  • Oversee maintenance of email distribution lists and distribution of newsletters.

  • Oversee website and social media content, in support of key events and initiatives.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.






Position length



This is a temporary position with an end date of August 15, 2024.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Arts and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp, and Eventbrite preferred.
