Holman's Manufacturing and Distribution division has a great opportunity for a Paint Lead to join our team in Bartlett, IL.



  • Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

What will you do?



- Lead, plan and train department members responsible for performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks related to providing quality paint jobs.


- Responsible for performing some of the most complex work in the department as well as administrative support duties.


- Serve as a mentor/resource to other employees in the department for complicated issues.


- Properly clean and prepare surfaces to be painted including degreasing/power washing, surface pre-treatment, scraping, masking, sanding, seam sealing, and other paint prepping processes.


- Read work orders and properly determine the color and amount of paint required for job(s).


- Mix paints, enamels and primers to match standardized and specified color requirements.


- Must be able to isolate painted/unpainted areas (i.e., masking, taping doors, etc.).


- Apply and verify proper application of seam seal to bodies and compartments for quality water sealing and rust prevention.


- Apply a variety of coatings to obtain a high grade and decorative finish on both vehicles and working components.


- Ensure the required consistency and viscosity of paint for spraying or brushing.


- Correct mistakes such as smoothing rough spots, touch up painting and repairing surface defects as necessary.


- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all spray equipment.


- Clean and maintain the paint mixing room, air make-up units and paint booths


- Possess an understanding and exercise extreme care during the operation and movement of large parts while using the company lifting systems.


- Inform and communicate suggestions and errors to relevant departments for the continuous improvement of the manufacturing/finishing/installation process.


- Apply all paint materials within the standard operating procedures.


- Safely work with paint waste and hazardous waste generated from the paint process.


- Comply with Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste procedures.


- Oversee hazardous waste management process.


- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.



Relevant Work Experience:



- Minimum 5+ years of experience required in painting and color matching in an auto paint shop or fleet truck paint shop.


- Previous experience using plural component paint spray mixing system preferred.


- Previous experience using baking booth preferred.


- Previous experience producing high quality finishes using catalyzed enamel paints and base coat/clear coat paint systems required.


- Possess knowledge and abilities for performing secondary paint operations such as but not limited to; sanding & buffing paint runs & imperfections, applying undercoating, applying decals & stripes, and application of non-skid coatings.


- Have basic mechanical skills to be able to remove & install handles, hardware, hinges, trim, and doors from manufactured bodies and vehicles before and after paint operations.


- Must have the tools necessary to perform required duties.


- Supervisory skills highly desired.

Pay:



We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $23.57 - $34.18 USD annually for full time employees. The annual compensation range is comprised of base pay earnings.
