What we need:
Monitors all computer consoles and peripheral equipment for the purpose of uninterrupted processing.
What you'll do:
Monitors consoles for error messages.
Monitors batch jobs.
Opens problem tickets and initiate escalation procedures when error conditions occur, by notifying responsible group.
Resolves any problems as instructed by responsible group.
Follows prepared run sheets and performs tasks based on timing and dependencies in order to complete tasks.
Print reports and invoices as necessary.
Submit (on request) batch jobs per instruction
Mounts tapes, cleans tape drives and exports and logs tapes.
Performs all backups as required from schedule.
Logs all backup tapes and prepares for offsite storage.
Brings paper supplies into the computer room for reports. Some lifting required.
Keeps data center and workstation area clean and orderly.
Other duties as required.
What you have:
HS Diploma or equivalent.
Technical school certificate preferred.
IBM AS400 (IBM i) experience preferred.
Experience in Windows, MS Word software would be extremely helpful.
What you're good at:
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Good communication skills and the ability to work with all types of users. Good people skills essential.
