RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:


  • Senior Staff Accountant will manage the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements in financial reporting and accounting practices

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and financial performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to management

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic objectives

  • Conduct thorough reviews of general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers to identify and resolve discrepancies or irregularities

  • Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and facilitating audit fieldwork

  • As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will assist in the implementation and optimization of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, such as Operations, Sales, and Human Resources, to support business initiatives and drive continuous improvement







REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis

  • AR, AP, and Payroll experience

  • Heavy reconciliations experience

  • Sage Intacct experience required

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion






The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.



We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
