Union Board is the governing body of the Indiana Memorial Union and the largest student programming organization on campus. Driven by students, Union Board plans a range of fun, entertaining, and educational events for students to come together, explore multiple world views, discuss current events, and learn from one another.
Union Board Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in a fun and collaborative atmosphere where creative problem-solving leads to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from IU students and more. All Union Board Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives.
Job Summary
Graphic Designers creates a variety of digital and print designs for campaigns, signage, social media, posters, and more. Through their collaboration with all of Union Board Marketing, Graphic Designers will be the ones to bring concepts to life, finalizing files to the highest standards.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Works closely with Director of Marketing, Marketing Leads, and other Graphic Design team members to collaborate on creative solutions to bring ideas to life.
Applies creativity and design principles to digital and print designs using Adobe Creative Cloud programs, clearly communicating the purpose of the marketing piece for appropriate audiences.
Researches ideas background information, previous designs, inspiration from Marketing Leads and Directors, etc.
Communicates internally in a timely and professional manner, regarding critiques, production updates, and status of projects.
Participates in various meetings, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.

Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
SKILLS
Required
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (CC): InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Experience creating designs and layout of campaigns and advertisements
Understanding of effective design principles and typography
Fine attention to detail
Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others
Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy
Exceptional written and communication skills
Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere
Strong sense of curiosity and creativity

Pursuit of a degree in Graphic Design or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
