General Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation Operations Manager, the incumbent will provide technical support for all simulation operations, including, but not limited to, course preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized mannequins (software and hardware), task trainers, and related multimedia peripherals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Utilize and operate simulation technologies including anatomic models, task trainers, high fidelity computer-based simulators, and virtual reality-based simulators, controlling manual and pre-programmed scenarios with course directors or designated faculty.
• Set up courses as specified within the curriculum, perform breakdown, and equipment checks at the conclusion of the course.
• Advise course directors and allied faculty and members in the design of the operational component of new and existing simulation-based educational curricula.
• Contribute to concept development utilizing CAD software, estimate cost, and utilize 3D printing to develop simulation-based task trainers and anatomical models.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment relating to all professions within the hospital. This includes completing monthly inventory checklists, obtaining quotes, and making purchasing recommendations to the Operations Manager based on the needs of the simulation center.
• Provide recommendations for improving operational systems, new equipment needs, and improvement in the quality of the curriculum development process.
• Participate in Curriculum in Development Committee, Simulation Review Committee and Operations Team meetings.
• Participate in ongoing maintenance program for all simulation-based equipment, medical devices, capital equipment and the Center as a whole including cleaning, testing, troubleshooting, obtaining quotes for replacement parts, repairing, and assuring that all equipment is in good working order.
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers and clinicians regarding equipment and software upgrades, updates, and beta testing initiatives.
• Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment inventory catalogs and operational manuals.
• Assist with the development of and execution of simulation-based research projects.
• Assist with the development of and execution of external business when necessary.
• Participate in technical training as necessary.
• Participate in the BWH Observation Program for US-Guided CVC Placement.
• Other duties as assigned.
