Research assistance in the area of curiosity-driven science in the area of host:microbe interactions, lymphocyte development, and antibody development. Working very independently under general supervision of Principal Investigator, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, the applicant will work with postdoctoral fellows to conduct a variety of experiments. Ideal for candidates interested in medical school as well as graduate school in biomedicine, and/or immunology.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for organization and processing of biologic specimens from mouse experiments as well as clinical studies.
Maintains and organizes up-to-date database of all received specimens.
Collect biological specimens from mice
Genotype and organize mouse colonies
Extract RNA and protein
Perform quantitative PCR
Additional responsibilities at the PI's discretion
Qualifications
The individual must have a Bachelor's degree and a background in Biology.
One year of research-related experience in a hospital or research setting.
The individual must have reasoning and verbal skills.
Computer coding skills are a plus.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
The individual must be internally motivated, have good problem-solving skills, and be able to keep an accurate, clear, and up-to-date lab notebook.
