Technical Lead Building Engineer , Shift Varies, Plant Operations

UC Health is hiring a full-time Technical Lead Building Engineer for the Plant Operations department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Technical Lead Building Engineer will support the Medical Centers and deliver high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering required.
  • 4 years related work experience required; 1-year supervisory exp.
  • Knowledge and skill in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing the respective trade work.

Assist in coordinating the work of a respective trades shop planning activities and arranging work crew schedules in a designated area and/or coordinates schedules with other trades. May perform master trade work.


  • Assists the supervisor with: Work direction and instruction to shop members in all aspects of trade work, inspects trade members work ensuring all work performed meets or exceed all applicable codes and standards ensures all safety equipment is used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Assists in coordinating the respective shop staff by estimating the time, materials and skills required for efficient and timely task completion, assigning tasks via workorders to shop individuals ensuring needed trade members have the skill time and material to perform the task and the workload is evenly distributed also ensuring estimates of time and material coincide with actual usage.
  • Interprets prints, manuals, and diagrams to determine layout, location, parts, and supplies needed to complete all assigned workorders/tasks in an efficient, safe, and timely manner. Orders items and supplies to insure uninterrupted service to the hospital.
  • Assists with the coordination of the PM system for the shop, plans and schedules outages, plans, and schedules outside vendors for inspections, installations, outages, upgrades, repairs. Ensures associated documentation is accurate and all work was performed as specified.
  • May be required to inspect work performed by outside vendors and contractors ensuring all work meets or exceeds all federal, state, and city codes and standards.
  • Assists other trade workers in performance of routine maintenance, renovation, and construction projects.
  • Maintains housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
