As a S&T Research Chemist, Entry, you will join the PPG TESLIN® Substrate Products R&D team to lead new Teslin Substrate Product improvement and product development. The Chemist will work with colleagues in Teslin R&D, Technical Service, Manufacturing, and the Teslin business to develop new Teslin technologies, capabilities, and products toward the goal of new product introduction and commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and ensure safe work in the Teslin R&D labs, including the operation of mechanical equipment, handling of chemicals, execution of experiments, preparation of samples, characterization and performance testing of materials, etc.


• Learn and apply the key chemical concepts of the Teslin technology to accelerate the development of new Teslin capabilities and products.


• Learn and master the various methods for characterizing the key properties and performance attributes of Teslin.


• Support components of R&D projects and/or Technical Service initiatives by conducting laboratory experiments and trials.


• Generate, analyze, and interpret experimental data to contribute new knowledge and guide new product development.


• Ensure Teslin R&D laboratory compliance with PPG Environment, Health, and Safety requirements and housekeeping guidelines, including the handling of raw materials and experimental samples, proactive identification and mitigation of hazards and risks, and compliance with guidelines for waste disposal.


• Participate in ISO 9001 audits by the PPG Teslin business and ensure all equipment, processes, and measuring devices under ISO 9001 certification remain compliant.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a relevant technical field, such as Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or an Engineering discipline with a strong background in chemistry.


• 0-3 years of work experience in a chemical laboratory setting.


• Unwavering commitment to safe work practices, including following all laboratory procedures and contributing to the maintenance of high safety standards.
