DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Marketing Specialist
REPORTS TO: Assistant Recreation Director
SUPERVISES: NA

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of marketing to strengthen the departments ongoing programs, community participation, hiring goals, sponsorships, special events, and public awareness.
An incumbent will be required to work varied hours during the week and may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create a variety of print and digital advertisements to enhance the departments marketing needs and promote public awareness while maintaining brand standards.
Develop marketing campaigns for a variety of needs including, but not limited to, sponsorships and hiring.
Assist with the development and management of the departments web and social media pages.
Respond on behalf of the department, once approved, to citizen questions and complaints on the departments social media pages.
Possess and maintain proficiency with the most current media technology and provide expertise in utilizing new technology to enhance the departments marketing needs.
Meet regularly with the Recreation Director, Assistant Director, and other staff members to develop and coordinate marketing campaigns.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with area businesses, civic organizations, the general public, governmental officials, co-workers, and supervisors.
Participate in citywide and department special events as needed.
This position requires the employee to be physically present at the workplace to fully engage with the team and participate actively in all aspects of their role.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY:
Must possess a considerable amount of knowledge regarding technology and feel comfortable and confident completing tasks within a variety of computer software programs.
Possess a strong knowledge of utilizing social media including, but not limited to, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, and remain proficient in all new social media technologies.
Knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize the English language, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all forms of communication.
Knowledge of design for informational materials such as flyers, brochures, and visual displays.
Ability to apply and maintain brand standards for all print and digital materials.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all departmental communications, documents, and correspondence.
Ability to accurately prepare and maintain department records and documents.
Knowledge of techniques for effectively organizing and managing multiple schedules and projects.
Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain regular and dependable attendance on the job.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
Must possess a valid drivers license at the time of hire.Minimum age of eighteen (18) years with marketing experience or currently in college pursuing a marketing degree.A high school diploma or equivalency is preferred, or a high school senior.Experience in marketing and social media management preferred.Must be able to obtain a CPR/AED/First Aid certification within a time frame established by the employer.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed indoors in an office setting and requires the incumbent to frequently sit for extended periods of time. Work may be performed outdoors with the employee being exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
While performing job duties, the incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects or controls. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of equipment. Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually low to moderate but may even be high depending on the scheduled activity.
Work requires the operation of a variety of standard office equipment, including but not limited to, a computer, copy machine, laminating machine, shredder, and telephone. The incumbent is required to operate small equipment, including but not limited to, cameras and cell phones to take photographs for marketing needs.
