Purpose



Responsible for overseeing a team of Resettlement caseworkers and support services staff who guide newly arrived refugees and other qualifying immigrants through the initial resettlement period. The supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, development, and day-to-day supervision of caseworkers and support staff, supporting accurate and compliant delivery of program core services, reporting, and administrative tasks. The Resettlement Supervisor must be committed to working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a team committed to offering high-quality, successful cross-program collaboration and providing holistic case management to all new arrivals.



Responsibilities





  • Welcome and orient refugees to the community through the provision of core resettlement services and ongoing case management provision.

  • Coordinate pre-arrival assessment, assurance, and US-tie screening and orientation.

  • Coordinate and provide airport reception for refugees through the Reception and Placement Program.

  • Coordinate and assist in apartment set-up for refugees as required.

  • Supervise Resettlement Case Management, Job Developers, and support staff.

  • Secure appropriate and affordable housing for new refugees; develop and maintain relationships with local landlords.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local DSS and Health Departments.

  • Coordinate empowering refugees to formulate and implement realistic yet ambitious self-sufficiency plans.

  • Work with staff to remove barriers to employment and realize the goal of family self-sufficiency. Identify support services that may assist clients in becoming self-sufficient, such as ESL, transportation, immigration services, and childcare.

  • Ensure documentation of all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs and recording of clients' public assistance usage.

  • Ensure completion of all required reports.

  • Stay up-to-date on program changes. Coordinate regular trainings for case management staff on program changes and train new staff on program guidelines and compliance.

  • Communicate with volunteer coordinator to organize volunteer assistance to welcome refugees. Ensure volunteer availability and suitability to support the completion of prearrival activities.

  • Responsible for executing and documenting proper maintenance of CWS Southeast Region's vans, which are to be used for resettlement activities.

  • Advocate on behalf of refugees, and refugee-serving voluntary agencies.

  • Coordinate and offer interpretation and translation services to refugee clients, as well as transportation to interviews and appointments as necessary.

  • Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor.

  • Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to refugees, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients.

  • Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

  • Coordinate and conduct home visits as mandated by the program.

  • Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.

  • Work varied hours, including some night and weekend work.

  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Director of Resettlement, Southeast Region and/or the Resettlement Program Manager.




Qualifications




Education: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent professional experience.



Experience: Minimum four years of experience in coordinating resettlement activities and services. Minimum four years of experience working with refugee and immigrant populations.



Other Skills:



Strong computer skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detailed oriented. Spanish language fluency required.



Special Requirements





  • Must have a valid driver's license and suitable transportation.

  • Must complete motor vehicle record check.

  • Must be willing and able to travel.

  • Background check required.
