The University of Miami Health System is initiating a search for an Assistant Professor of Audiology.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as speech reception, air and bone conduction
Discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment
Contributes positively to the visibility, academic and research standing of the department
Provide Diagnostic Audiology and Rehabilitation services
Selects, administers, and interprets auditory tests
High frequency audiometry where indicated
Utilizes local, state, national and funding agency regulations to makes decisions regarding service eligibility
Conducts research on auditory topics
Participates in conference, forums or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods
Conduct and participate in research, including presenting at national and local conferences
Train students and externs
In-depth knowledge of several hearing aid manufacturers, Oticon, GN Resound and Phonak in particular and BAHA
Maintains client records at all stages, including initial evaluation and discharge
Utilizes local, state, national and funding agency regulations to makes decisions regarding service eligibility
Conducts research on auditory topics
Comfortable in running a clinic independently
Travel to satellite clinics may be required
Occasional flexibility to cover for different audiology clinics in the absence of a co-worker is required
Primary specialties are vestibular and diagnostics
Bilingual is preferred
One year of audiologist-related experience is required
