Office Location & Schedule: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.



Pay Rate:



$24.247/hour


This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate. The "Classification Salary Range" above is not a listing of available funds.

Essential Functions



  • Assists with review of administrative rule revisions (including using legislative format) to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Prepares and publishes public notices for rule revisions and contract agreements.

  • Drafts, proofs, and edits a variety of legal documents to support or correspond with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Assists attorneys in preparation for administrative and contested case hearings and with post-hearing matters. Receives complaints and maintains case files.

  • Serves as point of contact for hearing officers (e.g., communicates to determine availability for cases, schedules hearing rooms).

  • Assists with NDE service contracts and other related contractual documents, and maintains logs and records of such reviews.

  • Provides organizational assistance for attorneys, directs or responds to inquiries, and serves as back to up to Legal Services Associate.

  • Assists attorneys with legal and legislative research, and factual investigations.

  • Performs initial review of certification complaints and drafts subpoenas and other documents to assist investigators.

  • Performs administrative duties and accounting work including preparing, maintaining, and processing contract and financial records and documents, and accounts receivable and payable in the State of Nebraska accounting system.

  • Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.



Working Conditions and Travel:


This position requires approximately 95% of work time spent in an office environment; the remainder is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as meetings and trainings. There is no expected overnight travel.



Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications:Associate degree in Paralegal Studies from an American Bar Association approved program at an accredited college or successful completion of a program at an American Bar Association approved paralegal institute. Any equivalent education and\or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.



Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and two years of experience as a paralegal or similar position; experience with litigation document drafting and processes, Administrative Procedure Act processes, and working in a Nebraska government office.
