Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Management Consultant to join our Water Management, Urban and Coastal Resiliency Team in our Manhattan, NY office!

With the support of one of the industry's leading technical and professional staffs, this new team member will support a growing base of projects throughout the country with private, federal, state, and local government clients related to risk assessment, climate adaptation, resilience planning, policy, project development, feasibility studies, engineering design, as well as project funding and implementation. The role offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow professionally while working on a wide variety of projects alongside a dedicated and experienced staff. It is critical that this team member be collaborative and communicative in their approach, and that the Arcadis mission to "Improve Quality of Life" resonates deeply with this individual.

Role accountabilities:

As a Management Consultant you will have the opportunity to provide technical support for tasks related to planning and engineering studies for an existing and expanding client base in relation to coastal protection, risk assessment, stormwater management, groundwater, benefit cost analysis, environmental and social impact analysis as well as other resilience needs. Collaboration with integrated, multi-disciplinary teams of planners, engineers, scientists, and designers will be part of your everyday interactions.

You will also:


  • Analyze data and prepare static and/or dynamic reports of results
  • Work on a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Assist with the identification and description of cost effective, technically feasible, and environmentally sound resilience actions
  • Participate in client and project development and assist with proposals and marketing materials as needed
  • Mentor and be mentored, vertically and horizontally, to ensure shared knowledge and growth across the team
  • Occasionally travel to local and potentially national client sites, conferences, or internal workshops
  • Support team research, development, and thought leadership

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • 0-5 years' experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Coastal Sciences, Geology, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • Interest working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong experience and comfort working in MS Office Software
  • Strong written, critical thinking, and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity working with GIS software (i.e., ESRI or QGIS), as well as Python, R, Matlab, Fortran, Bash, or related coding languages
  • Interest and willingness to learn and grow within a team environment
  • Interest in supporting urban and coastal climate adaptation initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working towards Master of Science in Engineering, Coastal Sciences, Geology, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • One or more of the following:

    • Proficiency with Python, R, Matlab, Fortran, Bash, or related coding languages
    • Experience with DELFT3D, ADCIRC, SWAN, MIKE, HEC-RAS, and/or other industry hydrodynamic modeling software
    • Proficiency with ESRI GIS software, specifically ArcGIS Pro
    • Experience with dashboarding software such as PowerBI or Tableau
    • Experience with other engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil3D

  • Experience working in the coastal restoration or flood risk resilience fields

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $97,500.
