Job Description:

The Director of Packaging Equipment & Service would have an excellent understanding of the Packaging Equipment industry including all types of Manufacturers, their Equipment currently in the market and have the knowledge and ability to identify opportunities in automation. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)

Essential Position Functions:


  • Candidate will have documented history of managing equipment sellers and service technicians over multiple locations with a minimum of seven (7) figure revenue.

  • Managing of total Equipment and Service program which includes Packaging Equipment Specialists, Service Technicians and Equipment and Service Coordinators.

  • Expertise with all core Packaging Equipment including Stretch Wrappers, Strappers, Palletizers, Case Handling, Shrink Wrapping & Bundling, Conveyors, Marking and Coding, Robotics, Etc.

  • Able to identify automation opportunities at customer locations and communicate with them about their process, challenges, and expectations to recommend specific pieces of equipment to achieve the goals of the project for all types of packaging applications.

  • Develop relationships with key supplier partners.

  • Understanding of integrating single and multiple pieces of equipment into an existing packaging line.

  • Designing or redesigning, proposing, selling, and implementing an equipment opportunity from start to finish.

  • Ability to understand, capture and track all costs associated with proposing equipment & full line systems to achieve positive gross profit on sales orders including all time associated with projects and installation to completion.

  • Develop and train Equipment Specialists.

  • Effective communication with Branch management, Equipment Specialists, Service Technicians and Account Managers.

  • Travel to work with Sales Team as needed to support and grow Equipment program.

  • Participate and plan trainings with Management for branches and in support of local Equipment Specialists.

  • Communicate and manage Service department as required when installations/FAT's are being proposed, planned and scheduled.

  • Manage overall scheduling, billing of service program and sourcing and billing of parts.

  • Manage all System installations supporting the Sales team and customer as required.

  • Track, collect and organize backup documentation through the process of customer projects from proposal to sale to installation.

  • Manage entire process required by Mac Papers + Packaging for quoting, new suppliers, credit, and terms.

  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor's degree or related equivalent experience required.

  • Good understanding of Outlook Email and Calendar, Excel, Word, Adobe programs

  • Minimum 7 years documented experience with total System's Integration, robotics and PLC.

  • Vendor relationship building skills.

  • Strong Organizational and Communication Skills

  • Market research, analytical and decision-making skills

  • Travel required. Must reside near major Southeast airport.

  • Documented success managing Equipment and Service Program

  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.

  • Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.

  • Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.

  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
