Job Description:

About Hearst E-Commerce

Hearst E-commerce is a newly formed organization focused on developing and supporting E-Commerce across Hearst’s consumer media portfolio. Our goal is to make it easier to buy all the goods and services our thousands of journalists research every day. We work across a range of focus areas, including building and operating marketplaces, creating performance advertising tools, to helping develop editorial tools to simplify content creation workflows. This breadth helps give our team unique perspectives into the needs of Hearst’s reader and viewership across the globe.

Your Impact

The Hearst E-Commerce team is looking for an experienced Program Manager to support our e-commerce advertising products across Hearst Magazines.  As the Program Manager on the E-Commerce Advertising team, you will be responsible for building and managing all elements of a new advertising program. As a member of recently formed E-Commerce team, you will be responsible for managing an external vendor for program execution, while balancing the requirements of internal stakeholders in Ad Sales, Ad Operations, Product Management, Category Management and more. You will identify opportunities to build/improve processes, build and analyze program reporting and metrics, and find opportunities for program growth.

About You

The ideal candidate is a customer-obsessed and curious owner that embraces ambiguity and enjoys building programs from scratch. You should have excellent communication skills that span from visual documentation to verbal presentation of complex ideas in easy-to-understand ways. You will also have a track record of collaborating effectively with a variety of stakeholders to define and build programs. With our many partners across multiple organizations, you should also have comfort presenting concepts from junior to executive stakeholders. Finally, you should love digging into the details of your programs, developing a deep understanding of what drives performance.   If you’re interested in a startup environment with an opportunity to define new programs in support of our Hearst media brands, then this may be the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Development of the overall retail media program strategy in conjunction with partners, tactically driving teams in and outside of your organization to deliver.

  • Define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics.

  • Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions.

  • Partner with product managers, internal/external stakeholders, and engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order.

  • Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).

  • Work with product managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate and impact critical business initiatives.

  • Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects.

  • Roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; general manager / owner mentality.

Requirements

No two projects are alike, nor are two candidates. The following experiences are common within your peer group, but not strict requirements. We encourage all candidates with some applicable qualifications to apply.

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.

  • Familiarity with digital advertising, including retail media networks and performance advertising.

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements, back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive business outputs.

  • Experience owning program strategy and end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.

  • Role model communication (written and spoken), presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and operate cross-functionally, establish credibility with stakeholders, and work with key internal and external partners to get things done.

  • Innovative problem solver, able to move quickly and think creatively in ambiguous environments.

For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter.
