SUMMARY
The Welding Engineer manages the welding program
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement & manage the welding program
Develop welding procedures
Oversee the PQR process
Required to perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned
Review work specification and related drawings to determine new weld process needs
Review internal processes and reference to work requirements
Determine OQE requirements based on the fabrication requirements
Manage assigned personnel
Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
Manage budgets and determine corrective course of action for negative trend
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to synthesize and analyze complex and diverse information
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in a timely manner, particularly those related to the structural integrity of maritime vessels.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to lead and facilitate presentations for internal and external constituents
Strong negotiation skills with ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
Ability to delegate work assignments, give authority to work independently, and monitor final output
Ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve organization-wide goals
In-depth knowledge of budgeting, funding, and cost control measures
In-depth knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes and methodologies
In-depth knowledge of ship repair and maintenance processes commonly found in the manufacturing and marine industries
In-depth knowledge of standard safety and security procedures related to equipment and materials
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Engineering Degree, or 15 years of experience in Ship Repair.
Requires a minimum of 2 years of management experience with direct supervisory responsibilities

Most work performed under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime
