VP Sales & General Manager

Summary

As the VP of Sales & GM of the business, they are highly commercially oriented and ready, willing, and able to set the overall business strategy. They demonstrate a strong grasp of the operations, processes, metrics, the P&L and provide solid leadership for Sales. This position is central to Ogden, UT.

Their leadership role is that of a highly involved player / coach responsible for growing revenue and profitability at a double-digit annual rate by:

Sales Leadership

  • Executing a sales process that drives customer satisfaction and increased market penetration.
  • Expanding channels to market (independent sales representatives, distributors, catalog sales, ecommerce) for both the company Brand & Private Label opportunities.
  • Reaching new markets for sound quality and noise control solutions.
  • Addressing growth within existing market channels.
  • Instigating growth at new channels in white spaces where there are not currently adequate channels.
  • Engage in key or targeted customer activities.
  • Maintains and develops existing and new customers using the most current selling practices and relevant functional department liaisons to optimize service quality, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the customer relationship, tracking all activity across multiple accounts, reporting sales and profitability of the account; leading the account strategy development; responsible for forecasting and pricing.
  • Leads a team that prepares and follows-up on proposals to customers including pricing and commercial strategy in-line with business goals and targets. Responsible for all facets of the commercial negotiation of contracts.
  • “Owns” the relationship with the customer; maintains and drives continuous improvement and communicates customer is needs internally. Develops and leads appropriate governance structure at each account/customer.
  • Actively participates in product teams from inquiry through commercialization; specifically takes lead role on all commercial discussions; negotiates through contract execution.
  • Assists in gathering market intelligence by reporting noteworthy information regarding customers, competitors, and the marketplace.
  • Ensure overall customer service to support on-time delivery and quality of the product offering to customers.
  • Monitors and reports on market and competitor activities and provides relevant reports and information.
  • Actively represents The company at trade shows and conferences, and through memberships in industry organizations.
  • Participate in training to learn about the product, manufacturing, and pricing; masters company presentations, sales presentations and “lunch-n-learns.”

P&L Leadership

  • Takes the lead growing intercompany sales opportunities-both opportunities to sell other Catalyst Acoustics Group (CAG) Brand Products and RealAcoustix Products through Member Companies.
  • Ensure the creation and implementation of a strategy designed to grow the business.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of key performance goals for functions, direct reports & their teams.
  • Ensure the development of tactical programs to pursue targeted goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates and decides upon key investments in infrastructure, and talent.
  • Communicate strategy and results to the business unit's employees and key results to Senior Leadership.
  • Engage with Senior Management Team in the broader organizational strategy and strategic planning.
  • Monitors and drives success for the primary sales KPIs such as quote activity, customer service, order intake, sales, margin performance and expense management.
  • Communicates, liaises, and negotiates internally and externally to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships to include quarterly scorecard sessions with key Market Channels driving investment and sustainable growth partnerships / strategies.

Talent Management

  • Building, organizing & leading a highly growth-oriented sales strategy.
  • Oversee key hiring and talent development programs where applicable.
  • Coaches and develops business develop resources, project managers, and estimators.
  • Outstanding coaching, motivation, and overall people leadership capabilities.

Experience Required

  • The ideal candidate must be well versed in multi-channel sales strategy creation and execution with a proven history of successfully managing teams, in direct and functional matrix organizations, to achieve profitable growth through channels. They must speak the languages of finance and accounting, operations, manufacturing, human resources, product development and sales & marketing.
  • Business Degree required with ten plus years’ experience in progressive sales leadership role or roles with significant upward progression in size or complexity.
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • This position reports into the Catalyst Group President.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people and assess employee skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people to follow processes, develop and modify processes when defined and hold people accountable.
  • Strong analytical, decision making and people management skills.
  • Strong team building and staff training skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and results driven.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage diverse activities simultaneously.
  • Utilizes a sense of urgency to get problems solved.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Must be able to travel 50% of the time.
