Governors State University's College of Education and Human Development invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Counseling program to begin in August 2024. The appointed faculty member will be part of the
Division of Psychology and Counseling
. The counseling program includes specialization in Clinical Mental Health, Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling School Counseling, and a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. Applicants will be expected to teach Master's and/or Doctoral courses that may include students across the College of Education and Human Development.

Required and Preferred Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications



  1. Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision (preferably a CACREP accredited program) or qualify as core faculty under CACREP's 2024 standards Section 1.Y.

  2. Ability to teach courses in clinical mental health and core counseling courses.

  3. Ability to teach across multiple programs in the Division of Psychology and Counseling.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in and/or able to teach statistics and quantitative research methods.
