Overview

The Senior Product Owner will play a critical role in translating the product strategy into actionable tasks and feature in collaboration with the product manager and engineering teams. This will involve creating user stories, defining user story acceptance criteria, and ensuring that these stories meet the definition of done. Success is measured by impact to a product's profitability and customer retention and the ability to help lead a balanced and predictable engineering team. The role will work closely with peers to articulate priority and manage delivery trade-offs. You will own, prioritize, and groom the product backlog, consulting with product managers, prospects, customers, and other stakeholders. The Sr. Product Owner will collaborate and communicate daily with the software engineering and user experience (UX) teams to oversee and approve product designs, enhancements, and quality.

Day-to-Day

  • Partner with product manager(s) to gain a deep understanding of the market and the customers you are serving to convey that vision to engineering and other stakeholders
  • Spend time directly with customers to advocate for customer needs and represent the voice of the customer (VOC) with the engineering team
  • Leverage that market understanding to better inform day-to-day priorities, and tradeoffs of features and timing
  • Create detailed product requirements to articulate internal and external customer needs to engineering, consulting with product management, prospects, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Respond to questions from developers and clarify requirements related to voice of customer (VOC) and business requirements
  • Contribute to defining and advancing role best practices
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, demos, grooming and release planning
  • Iterate on product designs with UX and engineering
  • Write acceptance criteria as part of user story creation
  • Ability to flex across multiple product lines, representing the needs of multiple user persona
  • Mentor team and provide informal leadership

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years’ related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Prior experience working in an agile development environment
  • Engages with and effectively navigates through a wide spectrum of complex issues, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills across varied scenario

Nice to haves

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification or equivalent certification
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
