The University of Miami's Climate Resilience Academy (the Academy) is seeking a full-time Resilience Program Manager to assist with research, coordination, and execution of the Academy's ambitious work program. The Resilience Program Manager joins the Academy at an exciting time and will work alongside the Academy's senior staff to research, produce, and deliver innovative solutions to climate resilience challenges. The Resilience Program Manager will coordinate among university, private sector, and government stakeholders to help maintain strategic partnerships and execute priority projects.



Department Specific Functions



The University of Miami's Climate Resilience Academy (the Academy) is seeking a full-time Resilience Program Manager to assist with research, coordination, and execution of the Academy's ambitious work program. The Resilience Program Manager joins the Academy at an exciting time and will work alongside the Academy's senior staff to research, produce, and deliver innovative solutions to climate resilience challenges. The Resilience Program Manager will coordinate among university, private sector, and government stakeholders to help maintain strategic partnerships and execute priority projects.


Communication:


Support the Academy's outreach efforts to students, faculty, and external stakeholders through social media, email distribution, and other channels.


Identify and develop potential partnership opportunities that can extend the reach of the Academy.


Create and maintain outreach database.


Work alongside Director to conceive of and deploy regularly scheduled social media posts and timely updates to the Academy website.


Assist with the development of slide decks, video/audio resources, marketing materials to support Academy outreach efforts.


Grants and Funding


Assist with packaging funding proposals and grant submissions, working with internal and external partners to ensure adherence to deadlines.


Identify opportunities for funding or projects that align with the Academy's mission.


Provide support to identify and develop collaborators and project teams for new initiatives.


Programming and Events


Assist with logistics related to the Academy's planned symposia, including but not limited to: event planning, speaker outreach, oversight of run of show, catering, and facilities reservations.


Explore additional event opportunities that could further the Academy's mission such as film screenings, speaker series, brown bag/socials, etc.


Identify events and conferences where the Academy could present or contribute to aligned panel discussions.


Research and Education Support


Support the management of interdisciplinary research applications and the research programs once those applications are successful.


Provide operational support to Climate Academy classes and other education-related efforts. Contribute to knowledge-building efforts and thought leadership, best practices in local and national resilience efforts that could align with Academy goals. Provide research support as needed to UM faculty collaborating with Academy staff on proposals, white papers, and other resources to be determined. Perform administrative support functions as necessary to support the Academy.



Department Specific Qualifications




Education:



Master's degree preferred and/or experience in related fields such as: public policy, ecosystem science, law, strategic planning, urban planning, community development, real estate, management consulting, higher education.



Certification and Licensing:



N/A



Experience:



Minimum 4 years of relevant experience preferred.



Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:



  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams composed of members from varied professional backgrounds

  • Demonstrated interest in resilience planning and knowledge building

  • Exceptional skills in time management, facilitation, and organization

  • Effective writing and communication skills

  • Flexible/adaptable, able to pivot among numerous priorities

  • Strong Research skills
