Job Description:

Primary Location:9700 Wade Boulevard, Frisco, Texas, 75035We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Job Summary:Assist the lab coordinator in daily operations of the ingredients room and kitchen labs. Ensure operation of lab equipment and storeroom support of faculty and students in a safe and in compliant with city health codes. Maintain storeroom and culinary lab inventory. Ensure accuracy of prepared class food requisition carts and timely distribution to labs. Consolidate weekly class requisitions for inventory and purchasing. Serves as purchasing back-up for lab coordinator as needed.
Required Qualifications:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assist in implementation of IHCE/Culinary and Pastry Department kitchen protocol and storeroom procedures and standards; identify and report potential safety hazards. Must wear approved chef uniform, personal protective equipment when needed, and non-slip shoes during shift.

  • Consolidate weekly class requisitions by utilizing established and standardized requisition system. Identify discrepancies and communicate with faculty regarding requisition request. Communicate requisition revisions and delivery changes to storeroom staff.

  • Perform weekly requisition and par stock inventory and maintain storeroom and classroom par stock level. Alert culinary lab coordinator of items that are below par stock. Assist in smallware inventory as needed.

  • Ensure ingredients and lab inventory is updated. Track expiration dates of products as appropriate. Cost out inventory using inventory management system.

  • Maintain an organized, clean, sanitized, and safe ingredients room and receiving area.

  • Receive and cross check deliveries with invoices/order confirmations. Follow receiving guidelines established by IHCE/Culinary and Pastry Department.

  • Prepare weekly priority task list for storeroom's daily production. Prepare weekly thaw/soak list of requested food ingredients. Verify accuracy of culinary storeroom staff in preparing food requisitions for culinary and pastry classes and for special events and meetings.

  • Prepare, deliver and distribute class food requisitions and supplies in a timely manner to the correct locations, practicing First In, First Out (FIFO) principles.

  • Retrieve and break down class requisition carts. Issue last minute request items to classes following the guidelines established by IHCE/Culinary and Pastry Department.

  • Assist in the purchasing process when needed. Make recommendations for food and equipment purchases.

  • Assist in training new personnel as needed and requested. May assist supervisor in monitoring work of storeroom staff, when requested.

  • Cross-train in various functions as required in order to backup other culinary staff positions.

  • Greet and assist students, faculty, staff and the general public in a friendly and professional manner. Answer telephones in a timely manner; maintain professional demeanor at all times.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all records.

  • Represent the department at college and community events.

  • Attend all department and division meetings as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with College policies, procedures and core values.

  • This role is required to work from 9:30am to 6:30 pm.

  • Work schedule may be required to work on weekends and to be flexible to morning, afternoon or evening time frames as needed.

  • Ability to inspect product's quality by checking appearance, smell and texture

  • Ability to travel off site to purchase or pickup items when needed

  • Must be able to push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds multiple times in a shift




Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to gases and workspace restrictions. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Occasional physical effort required.


Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.


Licenses and Certifications

Certified in Food Protection Management preferred.
Current Texas driver's license* and insurable with the college's insurance carrier.



*Individuals hired for this position may be required to drive a company vehicle. A Motor Vehicle (MVR) Report will be run in conjunction with the background check during the contingent offer stage and annually/bi-annually for the duration of employment at Collin College. Candidates who fail the original background/MVR report or subsequent MVR reports may not be hired and/or terminated based on the results of the report.



Equivalency Language

An additional two (2) years of related work experience may be substituted for the associate degree requirement.
