Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
As the UX Director of Design Systems, you will lead the design team responsible for our design system across all PayPal products, known as PayPal UI, and work closely with your product and engineering partners to define and drive the strategy and roadmap. In this role you will set and continually raise the bar for craft across PayPal's product portfolio which serves hundreds of millions of consumers and tens of millions of businesses.

You will partner with cross-functional peers across the company to understand needs and influence strategic design decisions around how our design system is used and should grow and evolve to create the best possible app and web experiences.



Your day to day:




In your day to day you will:



  • Take accountability for the creative vision and the standard of output across your team.


  • Ensure that all the organization's output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand and strategic commitments.


  • Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process.


  • Make design decisions based on research and insights, as well as advocate for continuous experimentation and learning with inclusive design best practices.


  • Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders.


  • Have strong people management and leadership skills in order to hire, develop, and inspire the creative team.


  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.





What do you need to bring:



  • 10 to 12+ years in UX role and 2+ years managing creativeteams(includingleadership, team-building, and delegation


  • Proven experience in leading, growing and inspiring highly talented and productive teams


  • Master of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops or other collaboration techniques to drive momentum and credibility within the organization.


  • Customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights


  • Thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops or other collaboration techniques to drive momentum and credibility within the organization


  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in the study of design including one of the following; Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors or equivalent project/portfolio experience
