Targa Resources Corp., one of the largest independent midstream natural gas companies, has an immediate opening for a Senior Operational Accounting Analyst as part of a newly formed Contract Assessment Team supporting Operational Accounting for both the Gathering & Processing and Logistics & Transportation segments to assess new contracts, model settlements under ASC 606, and provide audit support for a growing Operational Accounting organization.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contract Assessment/Revenue Recognition:
Analyze contracts for ASC 606 revenue recognition and review set up in marketing system
Review first settlement of all new producer settlements, natural gas and NGL marketing contracts for compliance with ASC 606 and contractual pricing terms
Review selected samples of historical contracts for compliance with ASC 606 and contractual pricing terms
Understand pricing methodologies and requirements as specified by contract terms and associated counterparty deals
Quarterly/Reporting Activities:
Independently coordinate and provide support for audits with documentation provided by individual accountants or gathered from document repository
Preparation and calculation of various revenue disclosures including backlog disclosure quarterly for Minimum Volume Commitments, construction reimbursements, etc
Perform monthly and quarterly SOX controls as required
Other Activities:
Provide guidance on the interpretation and set up of contracts from an accounting perspective
Ad hoc reports and analysis as required
Possess a high level of systems aptitude in order to run and produce reports, facilitate analytics and reconciliations, etc
Maintain Operational Accounting Key Spreadsheet Listing and coordinate quarterly updates
Cross train and develop bench strength within contract assessment team for review of contracts, first revenue, etc
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Economics or related degree
5 - 8 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with ASC 606 and ASC 842
Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with internal and external parties
Capable of performing in an open office, team-oriented environment
Possess high degree of accountability and responsibility
Effective at meeting deadlines
Capable of adjusting work priorities on short notice
Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Accounting degree
CPA
ETRM experience such as Allegro, WaterField or RightAngle
Energy industry experience
