Objective:
The delivery driver is responsible for the timely and safe delivery of materials to customers and the pickup of materials when needed from vendors and customers
The driver coordinates his activity to achieve optimum productivity and works carefully to meet or exceed customer expectations
The driver is competent and friendly in order to create a good impression of Ashby Lumber.
The driver is responsible for safely transporting company and customer goods
The driver’s efforts to deliver and pick up goods in a timely and safe manner affect the success of the entire organization, ensure customer satisfaction, and support business growth
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service on all deliveries
Always be professional in your contact with customers and their employees, as well as vendors, and know how to handle an upset or angry customer
Delivery:
Possess a current Class A driver’s license, clean Motor Vehicle Record, and be approved by our insurance
Monitor and ensure vehicles are loaded properly and accurately
Have a positive and upbeat attitude, even in heavy traffic and unusual driving conditions
Assist and/or oversee the loading and/or unloading of products
Be able to deal with a fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short-notice activity
Remain in communication with Dispatch as needed throughout the day
Safety:
Have excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws
Complete Driver’s Vehicle Inspection daily
Pass random DOT alcohol/drug screening
Operate vehicle safely in a manner consistent with Ashby Lumber Driving Policy
Report all accidents in accordance with Ashby Lumber Driver Accident Reporting Policy
