Job Description:

Position Summary


We are seeking a Business Process Management Product Owner to join Carlyle's Global Investment Solutions Data team. This role involves mapping out and analyzing the front-to-back processes to understand the current state and design future states processes across various domains and utilizing workflow tools such as Appian and DealCloud. The BPM Product Owner will use insights, design, and 'end-to-end' thinking to drive stakeholder-centric improvements, identify and address pain points in stakeholder's journeys, and design and implement Appian/DealCloud application and/or solutions to improve business processes.



Responsibilities



Strategy:





  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for Appian and Deal Cloud applications, ensuring they align with business goals and deliver optimal client experience and internal operational efficiency.

  • Participate in product roadmap planning with Chief Product Owner and Domain Lead.

  • Consults with Chief Product Owner and Domain Lead for guidance and clarity on the product vision, roadmap, and requirements.

  • Understands end-to-end processes and how they relate to relevant value streams of key capabilities within respective team, domain, and focus area.

  • Collaborates with Chief Product Owner, business and technology stakeholders to define new and or enhanced product requirements and functionality.




Process Optimization & Mapping:





  • Lead the mapping of business processes to understand current states and design future states across various dimensions, including internal teams, business capabilities, control points, technology platforms, and data domains.

  • Use insights, design, and end-to-end thinking to drive user-centric changes, identify and remedy pain points in users journeys, and implement actions to close gaps.

  • Define robust processes for data capture, continuously improve technology platforms, and ensure the effective deployment of improvements and customer satisfaction measurement tools.

  • Perform gap assessments, provide recommendations to process, product, and technology partners, and drive the implementation of strategic realignment initiatives to meet business objectives.




Product Development:





  • Serve as Appian and DealCloud Product Owner, translating business goals into value streams and epics with clear business value.

  • Lead full life-cycle product deployments, including developing implementation roadmaps/plans, managing third party resources, and ensuring successful project implementations.

  • Works with the team to breakdown value streams into backlog items (epics, stories, etc.) and prioritizes backlog for the team.

  • Refines product requirements based on the input obtained through sprint showcases and demos

  • Prioritizes the sprint backlog (as part of the sprint planning ceremony) based on the sequencing and ranking of features defined in the product roadmap.

  • Manage and write product requirements documents.

  • Defines and communicates the minimum viable product (MVP) for a given application / product and the supporting release plans.

  • Works continuously with Agile team to provide answers, feedback and direction on work items, enablers, user stories.

  • Collaborates with Scrum Master and teams to define the sprint plan based on the priority outlined within the overall product vision and roadmap.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders and dev team to author user stories with detailed acceptance criteria written in the customers' voice.

  • Supports and participates in program level ceremonies including story refinements, planning sessions.

  • Consistently engages with agile team to provide enough information to estimate amount of work and activities for value streams and helps slot them onto the rolling four quarter roadmap.

  • Facilitate testing and manage feedback for new product and services.

  • Drives the execution of user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with support from business and technology team members.




Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management:





  • Act as a critical liaison between stakeholders, understanding business concerns, and working collaboratively to implement solutions and improve business processes.

  • Performs functional reviews as part of sprint demos and showcases along with the Agile team.

  • Lead and implement production rollout and administration.

  • Identifies and escalates capacity, resource, and deliverable risks as needed.

  • Partners with GTS to provides bi-weekly release updates to stakeholders.

  • Represents stakeholders/end users of a product.

  • Communicates to end user community on consistent basis.

  • Provides hands-on training to end users as needed and can translate their needs into business requirements for the team.




Qualifications



Education & Certificates





  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Concentration in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Accounting Information Systems, or related field strongly preferred.

  • Preference for Certified Appian Associate Developer or Designer credentials.




Professional Experience



While structured learning and coaching will be provided, the following qualifications are recommended:




  • Minimum of 7 years of overall professional experience, required.

  • 3 years of related work experience as a Product Owner with a strong focus on Appian, and process optimization or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

  • Extensive experience in mapping, documenting, and optimizing business processes across multiple teams and technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability in leading process improvement initiatives using BPM, RPA and BPR techniques.

  • Strong requirements gathering, program & project management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
