We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our expert team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Assembling and installing machine-tool based automation cells as well as programming the industrial robots (Fanuc, Universal Robots, etc.)

  • Designing and developing new products and solutions, as well as improving existing ones

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams to bring ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, install, support, and service standard and non-standard machine-tool based automation product offerings.

  • Carry out overnight travel to support install, service, and support.

  • Programming Fanuc and Universal Robots for these cells.

  • Ability to understand and work with all related equipment in an automation cell, including but not limited to robots, grippers, safety systems, etc.

  • Document all system installations and service/support requests.

  • Design and develop new products, components, and custom Automation systems that meet customer needs and specifications.

  • Pre-sale concept design of automated systems

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including product managers, application engineers, and quality control personnel, to build and improve designs.

  • Use SolidWorks software and CAD tools to create and refine designs and create technical drawings and documentation.

  • Create manufacturing drawings and add dimensions to prints as needed.

  • Perform calculations, simulations, and testing to evaluate and optimize design performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Identify and solve design issues while recommending viable solutions.

  • Work with suppliers and vendors to source materials, components, and equipment needed for production while growing and maintaining positive relationships.

  • Ensure that all designs meet regulatory and safety standards.

  • Provide timeline estimates and project updates on a regular basis to satisfy customer requests.

  • Build work instructions and installation instructions of the items designed and manufactured.

  • Through exceptional service and Customer relationships, build brand identity.

Other Functions:

  • Perform related duties as required.

  • On site installation and servicing of automated systems

Qualifications:

  • Four-year Engineering Degree, Preferably Mechanical or Electrical

  • Automation experience is encouraged but not required.

  • Knowledge of CNC machine technology and applications with previous experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful.

  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.

  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 software suite.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both professional and non-professional, co-workers, management personnel, the public, and others.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

  • Ability to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.

  • Proven written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills required.

  • Exhibit excellent collaboration skills.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the Morris Group Values.

  • Ability to travel to multiple Morris Group facilities and customer locations.
