PPG Aerospace is seeking to add a Research Chemist to our growing Science & Technology (S&T) team in our Engineered Materials Department at our Burbank, CA facility.

In this role you will contribute to research and development of new products in the aerospace engineered materials segment. You will work onsite in our Burbank S&T center working closely with teams from PPG Dexmet Corporation and PPG Cuming Microwave Corporation.

This position reports to the Technology Platform Team Leader.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct hands-on experimental work related to formulation and testing.


• Generate reliable and reproducible test data following experimental procedures and test methods.


• Analyze and organize experimental data for efficient reporting.


• Communicate results through presentations and reports to the broader team and leadership.


• Take ownership of projects and ensure projects progress in a timely manner.


• Work collaboratively with other technical team members in Engineered Materials and broader Burbank S&T.


• Develop working knowledge of Engineered Materials and other Aerospace technologies.


• Contribute to new ideas generation and engage in technical problem solving.


• Interact with other S&T functional teams (EHS, quality, maintenance, and product stewardship) to advance projects.


• Work safely in the lab following safety procedures and 6S practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field required.


• Master's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field preferred.


• One (1) or more years of experience in polymeric materials, coatings, sealants, adhesives, elastomer formulation or related areas or combination of education and experience required.


• Prior experience in electronic materials or composite materials preferred.


• Basic knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and statistical analysis preferred.


• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

California state law requires that we post the full salary range for this position, any final offer that you may receive will be based on your years of applicable experience, as well as internal equity to ensure that we continue to hold ourselves to the highest standards of fair and equitable pay practices across all of PPG. The base salary range for this position is $43,000 to $81,500.

PPG pay ranges and benefits can vary by location which allows us to compensate employees competitively in different geographic markets. PPG considers several factors in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, qualifications and education, licensure and certifications, and other organizational needs. Other incentives may apply.
