JOB TITLE: Welder




JOB TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt




REPORTS TO: Weld Supervisor




SHIFT: 1ST




JOB SUMMARY:



Under general supervision, welders use Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) to weld together metal components in various positions based on qualifications from our CWI (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead). Works from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions. Must be able to follow D.1.1 standards and pass a pre-employment welding test given on-site.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • The ability to fabricate, weld, and/or repair production parts that are produced.

  • The ability to operate grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters and a variety of welding equipment.

  • The ability to analyze blueprints and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments.

  • The ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks (Quality/Safety/Engineering).

  • The ability to use appropriate measuring instruments for the task (calipers, tape measures, protractors).

  • The ability to use and operate hand tools.

  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.

  • The ability to operate a forklift and crane.




DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS ONCE IN THE ROLE INCLUDE:



  • Minimum of one-year experience operating a forklift.

  • Basic blueprint reading skills.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.

  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.




REQUIRED SKILL/ QUALIFICATIONS:



  • One to four years of welding/fabrication experience.

  • Must be able to read a tape measure.

  • Must be accountable and results driven.

  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.

  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug screen.
