This role supports Amerant’s Accounting Manager in running some high-visibility tasks necessary to maintain the operation of activities associated with periodic accounting closing processes. They will interact with several team members, at all levels, across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Analyze and prepare general ledge accounts period adjustment journal entries.
Review and document changes in account balances, research exceptions, and determine potential adjustments as needed.
Coordinate with the assistant general accounting manager to identify, research, and clear items in account balance reconciliations, including cash, loans, deposits and accrued liabilities.
Review other accounting team members’ work, supporting the accounts payable and accrual processes to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate timely completion of deliverables to internal and external stakeholders, including internal and external auditors and regulators.
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in a General Accounting Supervisory Role. Experience in the following industries a plus: banks, credit union, broker & dealers, investment advisory, real estate mortgage.
Education and/or Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA Certification required, or under enrollment to pursue.
Technical and/other Essential Knowledge:
Proficient using Microsoft Excel, SQL, Peoplesoft General Ledger, Intellimatch and IBS. Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and Spanish. Effective in building relationships and navigating a fast paced environment competing for multiple priorities.
