The salary range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00 per hour based upon a San Francisco location. Offered salary is dependent upon experience and location. Kendo Total Rewards offerings also include an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental and vision insurance, flex paid time off program, parental leave, employee discount/perks, a retirement plan with employer contributions, Summer Fridays, opportunity to work from anywhere for two weeks in the summer and July and December wellness/shutdown weeks for applicable positions.

Position Summary
The industrial designer position will play a critical role of concepting and developing new packaging innovations from conceptualization through manufacturing across all Kendo Brands.

Responsibilities


  • Ideate on new packaging designs, innovation and franchise extensions for all Kendo brands - primary packaging (lipsticks, compacts, bottles, etc) and secondary structures (holiday/gift sets)

  • Designing for manufacturability and cost targets - considering production processes, sustainable material choices

  • Ideate and develop designs for new functional packaging innovation in beauty and personal care

  • Staying up to date with industry trends, materials, manufacturing processes while applying them toward design capabilities and innovative solutions

  • Effectively present and communicate design concepts and ideas

  • Iterate concepts based on design feedback from packaging team

  • Create detailed presentations, high quality renderings and assets

  • Evaluate technical drawings / 3D CAD and review samples from manufacturing


Requirements


  • Passion for beauty and color cosmetic packaging

  • Must have a relevant degree with 3-5+ years relevant work experience; beauty industry strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with key cosmetic packaging types including compacts, dispensing systems, doefoot applicators, mascaras, lipsticks, etc preferred.

  • Familiar with various packaging technologies, materials and molding techniques

  • Deep understanding of competitive landscape and their design language/aesthetics

  • Ability to communicate quickly through ideations, sketches and mock ups

  • Experience in creating prototypes and models

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization and planning

  • Ability to work both independently and with cross-functional teams in a fast moving/changing environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with exceptional attention to detail

  • Highly proficient in Solidworks, Keyshot/Blender and Adobe Creative Suite
