The Research Assistant will be assisting in exciting genomics research on human metapneumovirus, a leading cause of lung infections in children. This work will involve prepping and sequencing viral genomes, data analysis, and troubleshooting. We will provide valuable hands-on laboratory training. This position is located at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Enthusiasm to learn, attention to detail, precision, and accuracy are essential. Must be in the process of completing, or have completed, a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related scientific field. Must have completed at least one semester of molecular biology coursework at the undergraduate level.
