Scope of Position


Under the direction of the Director, Environmental Services and Diagnostic Transport and a dotted line to the Administrator, Hospital Operations, the Business Operations Manager supports the identification and development of operational efficiencies, annual strategic goals and objectives, financial and capital budget, as well as administrative direction of bed management within University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital and Brain and Spine Hospital. The position will collaborate with the Director, Environmental Services and Director, Clinical Engineering, and Nurse leaders, among other stakeholders. This position will partner with Patient Flow, external bed management vendors, and Operations leadership teams to plan, develop, implement, and oversee initiatives and projects designed to evaluate and improve clinical quality, safety, resource utilization and bed management operations within University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital and Brain and Spine Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.





Position Summary


The Business Operations Manager participates in the development of operational strategy and is accountable for directing bed management operations within UH, Ross Heart Hospital, and Brain and Spine Hospital. This position supervises and coordinates multiple activities, including statistical, performance and managerial reporting, decision and budget support, capital planning and execution, and quality and operations improvement initiatives. The Business Operations Manager will work in close collaboration with Environmental Services, External Vendors, Nursing, Patient Flow Leadership, and other stakeholders across the Medical Center to facilitate progress toward strategic and operational goals. The Business Operations Manager will collaborate with the Director, Environmental Services and Diagnostic Transport and manage direct reports who will oversee the daily coordination of our fleet of beds at the medical center. They will lead and manage the team and partner with key stakeholders to efficiently manage the workflow of hospital bed equipment.





Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Business or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, Master's Degree preferred.




  • 3 years of progressive healthcare experience required which includes management of hospital beds or other administrative/clinical operations.




  • Preferred Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification, project management professional (PMP) certification.




  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and facilitation skills.




  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects.




  • Ability to learn new systems software.




  • Independent and self-motivated.
