POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position of groundskeeper will be tasked with performing multiple plant duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a safety first attitude . This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow safety rules, regulations and procedures set forth by OSHA and Alleyton policies.
  • Maintains grounds and operations of plant in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Maintains stockpile area.
  • Maintain truck loading and washdown area.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on plant and equipment.
  • Maintains good communication with plant manager and others on the jobsite as needed.
  • Demonstrates a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level and works as a team player.
  • Backup front end loader operator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Prior experience as yardman experience preferred. Proficient knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most time is spent outdoors in the processing plant. Assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc. Work area may be have noise levels up to 90 dbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. May occasionally deal with heights. Ability to operate hand levers, foot pedals and steering wheel. Must be able to enter and exit equipment by climbing 6-step ladder up to 50 times daily. Ability to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hours daily. Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to safely operate mobile equipment. Ability to read and interpret gauges and use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Bending, stooping, climbing and reaching are all required. Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as shovel up to 35 lbs. up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics.
